People with hypospadias are born with their urinary opening located somewhere other than the tip of the penis. In "distal hypospadias," the urinary opening is elsewhere on the glans (head) of the penis, whereas in "proximal hypospadias," it is on the underside of the penis and sometimes further back near the scrotum. Hypospadias is one of the most common and visible genital variations. People with hypospadias often have additional variations like chordee (a bend in the penis) or cryptorchidism (undescended testicles).

Las personas con hipospadias nacen con la apertura urinaria ubicada en algún lugar distinto a la punta del pene. En el "hipospadias distal", la apertura urinaria está en otra parte del glande (cabeza) del pene, mientras que en el "hipospadias proximal", está en la parte inferior del pene y, a veces, más atrás, cerca del escroto. El hipospadias es una de las variaciones genitales más comunes y visibles.
